Dreams of Winter
A Forgotten Gods Tale Book 1
by Christian Warren Freed
Genre: Fantasy

Under the rigid guidance of the Conclave; an order of holy men seeking to bring back the glory of the time of the gods, the Order of the Inquisition and their Prekhauten Guard divisions the seven hundred known worlds carve out a new empire with the compassion and wisdom the gods once offered. But a terrible secret, known only to the most powerful, threatens to undo three millennia of progress. The gods are not dead at all. They merely sleep. And they are being hunted.

Senior Inquisitor Tolde Breed is sent to the planet Crimeat to investigate the escape of one of the most deadly beings in the universe. Amongeratix, one of the three sons of the god-king is loose once again, the fabled Three. Tolde arrives on a world where heresy breeds insurrection and war is only a matter of time. Tolde is aided by Sister Abigail of the Order of Blood Witches in his quest to find Amongeratix and return him to Conclave custody before he can begin his reign of terror.

What he doesn’t know is that the Three are already operating on Crimeat. Each serves a different emotion: Vengeance, Sorrow and Redemption. Their touch drives the various characters beyond themselves and towards an uncertain future that can only end one of two ways. Either the Three win and finally destroy the gods, or humanity stops them and continues to survive.

Christian W. Freed was born in Buffalo, N.Y. more years ago than he would like to remember. After spending more than 20 years in the active duty US Army he has turned his talents to writing. Since retiring, he has gone on to publish 17 military fantasy and science fiction novels, as well as his memoirs from his time in Iraq and Afghanistan. His first published book (Hammers in the Wind) has been the #1 free book on Kindle 4 times and he holds a fancy certificate from the L Ron Hubbard Writers of the Future Contest.

Passionate about history, he combines his knowledge of the past with modern military tactics to create an engaging, quasi-realistic world for the readers. He graduated from Campbell University with a degree in history and is pursuing a Masters of Arts degree in Military History from Norwich University. He currently lives outside of Raleigh, N.C. and devotes his time to writing, his family, and their two Bernese Mountain Dogs. If you drive by you might just find him on the porch with a cigar in one hand and a pen in the other.

Authors Q&A ft by EA Hunt | Tennessee Waltz Book Tour | Silver Dagger Book Tours Presents Contemporary Romance

Tennessee Waltz by EA Hunt is on virtual book tour. The contemporary romance stops at Readeropolis today with an author interview.

Be sure to enter for a chance to win the $20 Amazon GC giveaway and follow the Silver Dagger book tour (for other dates see the link at the bottom of the post).

Author Interview

Where were you born/grew up at?
I was born by the river .... which surprisingly is true. I love Otis Redding's song. Truthfully I was born in Joliet, Il, which sits on the Desplaines River. Joliet is a town were everyone pretty much knew everyone. You could not mention my name and not have people asking if I was the daughter or granddaughter of someone. It was tiring but also fulfilling

If you knew you'd die tomorrow, how would you spend your last day?
At the beach, I'm a water baby. I love to swim and the beach is my favorite place to be. I know most would say with family which I love but I would love to be at the beach looking out over the water remembering the good life I built. I would not dwell on the past. I would just reflect on it and hope my children would have a wonderful and fulfilling life after I was gone.

How to find time to write as a parent?
Naptime and bedtime are the two most important writing times of my days. Since I have a toddler and a teen when the toddler is sleeping I write and when they both are sleeping I am writing.

How long have you been writing?
Since freshman year of high school so almost 20 years. oh my gosh I just told you my age ...lol

What is your writing process? For instance do you do an outline first?
There is no outline. I did that once and found I didn't care for it. My style is writing the whole novella, such a fancy word; and an accurate one since most of my books are only about eighty to ninety pages long. Once its written I go back through it and make changes or take things out. There are about two or three rewrites to any story I publish. I'm a little anal when it comes to my novellas because I want them to flow clearly and no one to be lost in an story.

What is something unique/quirky about you?
I love old movies. I am talking about black and white- the stories are completely about love and heartbreak. TCM, Turner Classic Movies, is one of my favorite tv channels and I watch it as many times as I can. Also my Dad and Mom love Westerns. John Wayne, the Big Valley, Bonanza. I grew up on them and love watching old episodes with my Mom and with my Dad. I can watch John Wayne movies and have a great time with it just being us and these movies or tv shows. Its so great.

Tell us something really interesting that's happened to you!
As everyone does these days I was on an online dating website. I was asked on a date by someone I was talking to on the site. I should have balked when he said we were going to happy hour, or Appy Hour because it was Applebees and everything was half price. When we meet everything was all right. Then I ordered an iced tea and he said ‘I guess I can buy a beautiful woman a drink’. Dude it was just iced tea, mind you he ordered water. Then we started talking about my dog at the time and he said he didn’t like animals and if we started dating I could come home and my dog would not be breathing. He threatened to kill my dog. So right then I knew the date was over.

Do you have any advice to give aspiring writers?
Get a good editor or find a website with several good editors and check out as many as you can. Make sure your story is cohesive don’t start with an idea in the beginning then change the whole dynamic midway through because reviews can be brutal. Read the bad reviews- they help you learn what needs to be changed, my sister gave me that advise because when I would get a back review I would sulk for days on end. Don’t take the bad reviews to heart they are opinions and if you know you are good at writing or telling stories then continue cause you can only get better with time. Know you audience and don’t be afraid to step out of the box a time or two. I write a great romance. Heartache and pain seem to be my thing but I'm a Science fiction fan so a few of my novellas have leaned towards the paranormal and I think I love those the best. I love building a world that’s no different than ours- except people are werewolves, bears, tigers or vampires- but I love it. And that’s truthfully it. If you have the passion and you love what you do then do it because it will always be with you.

Reason To Die
by Debbie De Louise
Genre: Crime Mystery

Someone is strangling disabled people in the small town of Baxter, Connecticut. Detective Courtney Lang and her ex-partner and ex-lover, wheelchair-bound Bill Thompson, are paired up again and put in charge of the investigation.

During the search, Courtney uncovers information that points towards a connection between the murders and an unsolved series of muggings by a masked man, the same man who shot and disabled Bill a year ago on the night he proposed marriage to her.

Complicating matters for Courtney is her guilt about Thompson's shooting, her affair with her new partner, Mark Farrell, and her unresolved feelings over the deaths of her mother and sister who perished in a fire when she was away from home.

As the deaths accrue and the “Handicapped Strangler” as the killer is coined by the press continues to rampage the town adding victims of different ages, sex and disabilities to the murder count, Courtney discovers a clue that could crack open the case but may put her and Bill's life in jeopardy.

My name is Debbie De Louise. I am a reference librarian at a public library on Long Island and the award-winning author of the Cobble Cove mystery series. I have a B.A. in English and an MLS in Library Science.

My first novel, a paranormal romance, "Cloudy Rainbow" (Booklocker 2008) received an honorable mention in the Writer's Digest self-published awards. I wrote that book after my beloved cat, Floppy, died from diabetic and liver complications. The book is dedicated to him, and he is featured as a character in it. I have recently signed with my publisher to reprint this book, and it will soon be available as a paperback as well as an eBook.

My second novel, the first book of the Cobble Cove Mystery series, "A Stone's Throw," (November 2015) was published by Limitless Publishing, LLC. It is the story of a widowed librarian who visits her husband's hometown and finds a new love with the town's newspaper publisher but also discovers some alarming truths about her husband's death and its connection to the publisher and his family. Along with a variety of characters, there is also a cat and dog who play minor but interesting roles in the novel. The second Cobble Cove Mystery, "Between a Rock and a Hard Place" was released in October 2016 by Solstice Publishing and a reprint of "A Stone's Throw" with an additional chapter was published in March, 2017. The third book of the series, "Written in Stone," was released in April, 2017. I've also published a romantic comedy novella, "When Jack Trumps Ace."

I'm currently working on a standalone mystery, Reason to Die, and have several other writing projects planned for 2018 including a new cozy mystery series along with the fourth volume of the Cobble Cove mysteries.

I'm a member of International Thriller Writers, Sisters-in-Crime, the Cat Writer's Association, and Long Island Authors Group and have published articles in Cats Magazine and Catnip (Tufts University Veterinary Newsletter). I won the Glamour Puss special award from Hartz Corporation for my Catster.com article, "Brushing your cat for bonding, beauty, and better health," (June, 2016). My short mystery, "Stitches in Time" was published in the Cat Crimes Through Time Anthology, (1999). I have also published several other short stories of various genres in Solstice anthologies. I live on Long Island with my husband, daughter, and our cat, Stripey.

Despite years of treatment, twenty-one year old Lydia still struggles with trauma from being attacked as a teenager. House-bound with anxieties and haunted by ghostly visions, she soon comes to suspect her psychiatrist husband, Myles, of sabotaging her recovery.

Her pursuit of the truth uncovers secrets more terrible than she ever imagined and it soon becomes clear that nothing is as it seems and no one can be trusted – not even herself.

Read an Excerpt:

She drew out a baseball bat from the cupboard and gripped it tightly. Then she swung it at the camera on the landing until she was sure she had destroyed it.

She thundered down the stairs and knocked out the one in the hallway. She then went about smashing the one in Myles's study. She was out of breath by the end of it, but also completely exhilarated.

Good girl.

Now out of view of any detectable surveillance camera, she went over to his desk drawer, which was locked. She hoped the gun was still in there and she tugged on it on the off-chance that it was a bad lock. No such luck.

With her hands shaking from the adrenaline, she pulled the hairpins out of her jeans pocket and laid them out on the desk. Her eyelids fluttered as she surveyed them. What was she thinking? She couldn't do this.

You've done it before a hundred times.

"That was years ago." Her days of picking locked liquor cabinets were long past her.

You can do this. Or, I can do it for you.

"No, wait."

She bit the soft end off one of the hairpins and pulled it apart while bending the rounded end of another pin into a lever. She pressed the lever hairpin into the lock cylinder and with the other one, she began to work on shifting the spring-loaded internal pins into their required position.

At any moment, it would all be over. The doors of the house would fly open and people would come crashing in to get her - the unstable fugitive, the runaway lab rat.

SEMIFINALIST FOR THE 2015 KINDLE BOOK AWARD IN LITERARY FICTION

Michael Meyer is the author of mysteries, thrillers, humorous fiction, and non-fiction: Love and romance, laughter and tears, thrills and fears.

He has resided in and has visited many places in the world, all of which have contributed in some way to his own published writing. He has literally traveled throughout the world, on numerous occasions. He has lived in Finland, Germany, Thailand, Saudi Arabia (where COVERT DREAMS - INTERNATIONAL SUSPENSE COLLECTION BOOK ONE - is set), and the U.S. Virgin Islands (where DEADLY EYES - INTERNATIONAL SUSPENSE COLLECTION BOOK TWO - is set). He gained the wanderlust to see the world, to experience other cultures, at an early age, and this desire has never left him. If anything, it has only gained in intensity as he has aged.

Among the many unique things that have happened to him in his world travels, he has walked the streets of Istanbul with a detective, searching for a pickpocket who got him good. He has ridden on the back of a motorcycle in Tehran while the driver, who spoke not one word of English, pointed out all the sights to him. He has wrestled an Iranian soldier who tried to break into his hotel room in Tehran. He has had the paint completely stripped from his car as he drove across Saudi Arabia in a sandstorm. He has stood on the stage of a busy nightclub in Tokyo, singing "She'll be Coming Round the Mountain When She Comes" to an audience feeling no pain from the Sake they were drinking. He has been chased by a family of mongooses (yes, that is the correct spelling) on the idyllic Caribbean island of St. Croix. And that is just the beginning of his long list of worldly adventures.

As a recent retiree from a forty-year career as a professor of writing, he now lives in Southern California wine country with his wife, Kitty, and their two adorable rescue cats.
