BLURB:

Leigha Luccenzo is a strong, confident woman who has her life perfectly under control. But her nightmares have returned after a long absence. They are kept hidden from everyone. She comes home to find her apartment in shambles, the possible doing of her ex-lover Sydney. Layers of lies start to peel away. Her world begins to shift and unravel.

Dean is a hard edge man who has an appetite for beautiful women, fast bikes, and shattered souls. His secrets bind him, keeping him from any real relationship. They latch onto him from his past like locked chains. He sees behind Leigha’s armor. Convincing her he can help becomes his mission. He hopes she’s strong enough to handle what lies beneath, unlocking his guilt.

Through events out of her control, Leigha’s forced to face her demons.

As other people’s secrets get entangled in her own, she struggles to get to the meaning of her nightmare. Can Dean help her uncover her truth?

EXCERPT:

He put his hands down slowly, saying Leigha was out of her element. This isn’t what she could deal with right now.

“I think we need to slow down. There’s a lot going on.” The crack in her voice exposed her nerves. Her fingers twisted together.

He pushed his chair back and walked toward her in nothing but jeans and bare feet. He scooted her back from the table and knelt in front of her. He pushed her robe to the side, exposing her long legs. She leaned back and gripped the arms of the chair.

“I’ve lost too much and I’m not willing to lose any more. Life burned a hole in me and you filled it. You understand and listen to me without judgment. We have something I’m holding on to. I’ve never felt this way. Not even…” He swallowed his words, bowing his head. His fingers gripped onto her thighs.

She sat there stick-straight like a cornered animal with nowhere to go. His words struck her. She tried to hold onto her little bit of control. The only words missing from his speech were ‘I love you.’ She was thankful they weren’t said. She would be the one to decide what they became, but she couldn’t deny the hold he had on her.

His head came up as his eyes locked onto her. “I know you’re scared. I can see it in your eyes. I’ll give you time. Just meet me halfway.”

He got up and held out his hand. Without a word, she took his strong hand as the tether strengthened.

AUTHOR INTERVIEW:

Who is your intended audience and why should they read your book?

My intended audience is anyone who loves a good love story woven with suspense. I recommend that readers be 18 and over because of some of the content in the book. It’s not your typical romantic suspense. Most people hear “romantic suspense” and think it’ll have a heavy military tone to it. I’ve had readers refer to my story as a “different kind of romance”. I wanted to write something outside the box. I hope to leave readers guessing and wanting more of not only my writing style but the storyline as well.

It will definitely keep you guessing.

How did you come up with the title of your book or series?

The Art of Eros series is about three sisters who are all artists. In each book, a different sister struggles to find out who they truly are and who they belong with romantically. That’s how I came up with the series title. I knew I wanted a single word that would be a common theme for each book.

My first book was renamed to Truths. Marabella finds out many truths not only about herself but the people around her. It’s only through getting to the bottom of things that she’s able to come out of hiding.

In Edges, Leigha approaches life with an edge and is always in control. But as things start to fall away so do the edges. She’s able to rely on others and accepts the control of fate.

The last book in the series, Faces, is about who we are when we look in the mirror and can you trust every face you see. Raquelle is a portrait artist who looks at people and herself differently.

Tell us a little bit about your cover art. Who designed it?
Why did you go with that particular design?

I see my stories in color. I saw Edges in blue. The main character, Dean, has ocean blue eyes. The hard part was finding a model who had the blond hair and blue eyes that fit the physical description. I found Garry Turner, a Brit living in Australia and a fitness model. I knew wanted him for the cover. The book had already been written when I went on my search but it’s interesting how many of their character traits are similar. I actually worked backward doing Edges first. I worked with Louisa Maggio and she got really creative, knowing exactly what I was looking for on the cover. Truths was always going to be in red. When I redid the cover, I went back to her. She nailed the style and format. I think the color on the covers make them pop and has the reader already asking questions.

Do you have any unique talents or hobbies?

My life always seemed to revolve around creativity. My mother signed my up for painting classes at a very young age. I dabbled in many different things. I started out taking photographs of everything. It was my first dive into the artistic end of the pool. I became interested in painting later in life and painted oil portraits of children. I found working in oil paint could be manipulated better and left me with more options for change. Obviously, I turned my attention to writing, which I really love. The process of writing is so unique. It’s also very creative. But I think my background in the arts helped me write this series and with my writing in general.

How can we contact you or find out more about your books?

Fans can learn more about my books in several ways. My website is www.kenziemacallan.com. I do have a newsletter but don’t send out a lot of emails. My goal is sending one out once a month. I let fans know about releases, giveaways, promotions, or books recommendations. I love to hear from readers and answer questions.

What can we expect from you in the future? What are you working on now?

The next and last book in this series focuses on Raquelle, the youngest sister. She’s a seductress, self-centered but very emotional. She meets her match with an interesting family twist as well as a Russian connection. The suspense continues and wraps up in this book. The readers get answers to all the questions about their father’s cryptic message, the Russians, and more family secrets.

My future plans include continuing to write. Why give up the creative juices now? I have a stand-alone contemporary romance that’s been tapping me on the shoulder fro a while. After that, I would like to write three books about Beck McKenzie, Peter Bryan, and Sean Knight. They are the three founders of MBK Global Security. Mac, from Truths, left MI6 to work for them. They each have very intriguing stories with military backgrounds.

What can readers who enjoy your book do to help make it successful?

I’m always very appreciative of any reader that takes the time to leave a review and rate my book. My books can be found on Amazon, Nook, Kobo, and Goodreads. They can also share the book with a friend, talk about it in a book group, or chat it up on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. The hardest part for any writer is getting their book in front of other readers who might really enjoy it.

Do you have any tips for readers or advice for other writers trying to get published?

Get on social media right away even before you get your first book published. Whether you self-publish or go with a traditional publishing path; you need that connection to potential readers. After you write your first draft, put it away for at least six weeks. This was some great advice from Stephen King’s book On Writing. You can come back to it with fresh eyes and begin the editing process. I found the website AutoCrit to be very helpful in teasing out redundant word choice, passive verbs, comparisons to other writing in your genre, etc. Put your manuscript through at least two more rounds of editing.

Find yourself a great editor. This isn’t easy to do considering there’s a plethora of editors out there who want your business. The connections you have made through social media and checking out author credits in their books will help you find an editor. The hard part is finding an editor who understands what you’re trying to do with your storyline. The connection between editor and writer is essential.

If you’re self-publishing, hire a professional cover design person. Start by looking at covers that catch your eye both in your genre and in other genres. Do some research to find out who did the work. Sometimes going against the trend can work in your favor. My book cover has a lot of color when the trend was black and white or dark covers.

Always stay true to yourself and be willing to take criticism. There are many people out there willing to help. Listen with open ears and pick the things you can use to make your writing stronger. Be open to change.

Is there anything else you’d like to say?

I write because I enjoy everything about the process. I want readers to be able to pick up my books and have an escape. They may also come away with questions about themselves or about life in general. Imagination is a powerful force.
