EXCERPT:

You see, my father was evil—seriously evil. During his relationship with my mother, he brutalized her and some of my siblings in ways that she won’t speak about to this day. He was often filled with rage and that rage showed in his physical violence. His brutality was never just saved for my mother. He once punched out my five-year-old step-brother; literally punched him in the face. I couldn’t even imagine what that would be like for a small child. Miss B hated him so much that her hatred poured into me from the time that I was just a toddler. She couldn’t stomach the sight of me for the simple reason that I was a part of him.
These aren’t my memories and most of which I know is fragmented, as no one wanted to talk about the man. What I know of him was learned in piecemeal over the years.

He was the kind of man who would rather see you dead than see you leave. I’ve seen several men like that while watching Law & Order. It’s shocking to know that things like that actually happened in my own family. My mom is such a great woman that the thought of her being hurt is a little hard to take at times. When my mother finally decided to get us all away from him, she had to wait until he went to work. Then, she packed up our things and left home. There was no warning; no threats of leaving him. She knew what he was like and she knew it was best to slip out without telling him.

AUTHOR INTERVIEW:

How did you come up with the title of your book?

The title You Taste Like Whiskey and Sunshine is based on a guy I once dated. He was the one that “got away” and we shared a passionate affair. Every chapter in the book is different and he holds his own chapter.

If you could change ONE thing about your book, what would it be?  Why?

The one thing I would change is to add more chapters. Once you’re finished something so personal, you send it out into the world and I found with my project that I just wanted to keep telling stories that would help others. But who wants to read a book that has a hundred chapters?

Where did your love of reading/storytelling/writing/etc. come from?

I had a very troubling childhood, and I often felt alone. I used books as a means of escape, I know so many others who can probably relate to that. I used to devour books in my youth, I was never seen without one. That’s where my joy came from; storytelling was just an extension of that. Now, it was my turn to offer an escape to others.

Do you have any unique talents or hobbies?

I can fly airplanes. About ten years ago, I decided to get my private pilot’s license because I always wanted to fly. It was one of the most exciting experiences of my life.

What's the strangest thing you have ever had to research online for your book?

I researched how someone could release fluid from a punctured lung by cutting a hole into their ribcage. I needed it for a story I was writing about a serial killer.

How can we contact you or find out more about your books?

Anyone can get information or contact me through my website: www.kimmilove.com They can also find me on these social media channels:

What can readers who enjoy your book do to help make it successful?

Share it with others. If you love a book, write a review on it, it’s so helpful to a writer, especially with a new book. People trust reviews so it can really help a writer out.

Do you have any tips for readers or advice for other writers trying to get published?

These days there are so many ways to be published and you have to do what works best for you. One thing may have worked well for one writer while it didn’t work for another. Decide what you want from your own writing project and don’t worry about what anyone else thinks about it.

Book Description:
WHAT MAKES THIS BOOK AWESOME?
There's an evil queen, a demented father, some amateur boxing and a trailer park story. Even a silver fox makes an appearance. Why wouldn't that entice you?

If you are looking for something different from the rest of the books out there, something that might make you question your sanity then you will love this book.
Seriously! The comedic and sassy perspective will make you see things differently, and you may even find yourself laughing out loud. It's a good story and one that I truly believe needs to be told. Period.
It’s dark, raw and takes you to a door that keeps all my innermost secrets. I hope that the book makes you laugh, makes you cry, and inspires you to be the best version of yourself.
